A North Torrance High School wrestling coach has been charged 10 counts of sexual abuse after allegedly having unlawful sex with a minor.
Mathew Bautista, 30, was arrested Oct. 14 and charged with three counts of unlawful sex with a minor, six counts of oral copulation with a minor and one count of knowingly distributing harmful matter to a minor, according to the Torrance Police Department.
Police began investigating the former walk-on coach nine months ago, officials said.
Bautista was immediately released from his coaching duties after his arrest, according to Tammy Khan with the Torrance Unified School District. He was hired as an assistant walk-on coach in August 2012.
Bautista’s next court date is scheduled for Dec. 6.
