A Los Angeles man was charged with assault with a firearm Wednesday following an Echo Park altercation during which he allegedly pulled out a gun.

Andres Ramirez, 25, also faces one count of possession of a firearm by a felon with two priors, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The charges come after a fight Sunday at The Short Stop, a bar popular among Dodgers fans, that began after Ramirez and nine other men approached a group of three men and claimed gang territory, officials said.
Police said they found Ramirez pointing a gun at another man when they arrived at the scene. The suspect fled and was shot by an officer, authorities said.
Ramirez was transported to a local hospital for surgery Sunday. Authorities did not provide an update on his condition.
Ramirez was previously convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in 2011, and earlier this year he was found to have alcohol in a prison or jail, prosecutors said.
If convicted as charged, he could face up to 25 years in state prison.
