10 Freeway in Colton Closed After Big Rig Strikes Bridge Under Construction

All westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway are closed on Wednesday after a tractor-trailer hit a beam of the Pepper Avenue overpass, according to California Highway officials.

The big rig was carrying a forklift when it hit the bridge around 9 a.m., said CHP Officer Brian Alvarez.

A few cars were damaged by debris, but no injuries were reported, according to Alvarez.

Traffic is being rerouted off the freeway and backed up to Tippecanoe Avenue, about 5.5 miles east of the Pepper Avenue overpass.

Officials expect the Freeway to reopen at 1 p.m.
