A man was shot and killed in Long Beach early Tuesday, police said.
The shooting was reported about 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Lime Avenue and 9th Street, Long Beach Police Lt. Eric Herzog said.
A man was found in an alley between a house and an apartment with a gunshot wound to his torso, Herzog said.
Firefighters were called to assist the Long Beach Police Department and the man was declared dead at the scene.
People who live in the area and were interviewed by police said they recognize the victim as someone who visits neighbors, Herzog said.
The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, the lieutenant said.
No further details were available about the shooting or suspects.
