Three individuals were injured Tuesday evening after a vehicle apparently drove off the side of the 405 Freeway in Van Nuys, landing in a homeless encampment, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the incident as a rescue around 6:14 p.m. near the offramp at Sherman Way, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Authorities initially reported three people were injured, with one trapped under the vehicle.
Just before 6:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol tweeted the right-hand lane would be closed for 45 minutes.
The car drove off an embankment on the right shoulder around 6:06 p.m., according to CHP.
