Several police cars and SWAT officers with guns drawn could be seen outside the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel early Thursday morning.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed the response from authorities outside the hotel in the 9800 block of South Santa Monica Boulevard about 6:45 a.m.
Commuters and pedestrians were asked to avoid the area due to police activity, the Beverly Hills Police Department stated in a news alert.
One SWAT officer could be seen standing in the doorway leading to a hotel courtyard with a rifle in hand.
It was unclear why authorities had responded to the hotel.
