Homicide Detectives Investigate Death at Walmart Parking Lot After Receiving 911 Call About Stabbing

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a person at a parking lot outside a Walmart in Temecula, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities responded to the scene in the 32200 block of Temecula Parkway, sheriff’s officials said, but it’s unclear if the death occurred there or elsewhere. Photos of the scene show emergency responders and law enforcement in a Walmart parking lot.

A call came in at about 12:15 p.m. about a suspected assault with a deadly weapon, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Vasquez said. A person was later transported for medical care but died, he said.

While officials have not released information about how the death occurred, Vasquez said the initial 911 call was about a stabbing.
